Tips for Finding Your Next TV Show to Binge Watch

Feel like you're running out of shows to watch with not many new scripted shows coming out during the pandemic? If so you're likely looking for ways to find something new so that you can binge-watch and fill your time. Here are a few tips for finding that next show that you will enjoy.

Ask for Friend Recommendations

Start by skiing friends and family members what they are watching at the moment and what shows they think you will be into. Your friends are going to know your preferences better than any sort of artificial intelligence algorithm, which will help point you in the right direction with less trial and error. They will not all be winners, but it is a good place to start.

Look for Critically Acclaimed Shows

If you want to find shows that critics have loved, but you likely have skipped over in the past, look at award winners and nominations for the past few years. There may be a show that was nominated for a category that is long over and no longer has that buzz on social media but is still a great show to watch. Try starting with some of these nominated shows and see if you like them.

Look for Shows From the Same Producers and Writers

While many people base the show they watch on the actors and actresses that are involved, know that they take a wide range of projects that can be completely unrelated. You are better off looking at the producers and writers that were involved with creating the show, and what projects they have moved onto.

For example, if you like watching The Office, know that some of the writers have gone on to produce other comedies like Parks and Recreation and The Good Place. If you liked the humor of the original show, you'll be likely to love the humor of other shows they created.

Try a New Service

Part of the problem may be that you are in a rut if you only have one streaming service, but there have recently been a lot more that have popped up over the years with great programming that you have skipped over. Try using a trial for a new streaming service to see what original content they offer. You may end up discovering the next show that you consider binge-worthy.
